Stage 1 — Preliminary Examination
The Prelims is a screening test conducted to shortlist candidates for the Mains examination. It is an objective-type OMR-based paper. Marks scored in Prelims are not counted in the final merit list — it is only qualifying in nature.
Stage 2 — Main Examination
Candidates who clear the Prelims cut-off are eligible to appear for the Mains exam. The Mains consists of four descriptive papers based on General Studies and language subjects.
Stage 3 — Interview (Personality Test and Viva-Voce)
Candidates who qualify the Mains exam are called for an interview. The interview carries 100 marks and evaluates the candidate’s personality, communication, and decision-making ability. Final selection is based on combined Mains and Interview performance.
